LEADERSHIP

MATT DAMMEYER, Ph.D.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Matt Dammeyer, Ph.D. serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Summit Medical Center (SMC). He joined SMC in October 2022 and is responsible for hospital operations and strategic growth.

Dr. Dammeyer came to us from Memorial Hospital of Converse County (MHCC) in Douglas, WY, where he also currently serves as CEO, a position he has held since 2019. Prior to that, we was the CEO of Alaska Psychiatric Institute, the largest psychiatric hospital in Alaska. He also served over 10 years as a COO or Assistant Administrator at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna, Alaska. He has also maintained a small clinical practice throughout most of his administrative career.

Dr. Dammeyer holds a M.S. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Wyoming. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC and his post-doctoral training in Norfolk, NE. He has authored peer-reviewed research articles on topics related to trauma/PTSD, influencing factors in professional training, and reducing anxiety during medical procedures. He and his wife, Maria (who also holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wyoming) are the parents of six children. The entire family enjoys time together camping, Nordic skiing, family adventures, and attending church together.

HEATHER JONES

CHIEF NURSING OFFICER

Heather Jones, RN, BSN, is a Wyoming native. Heather grew up in Riverton and has lived in Casper for over 15 years. She graduated from nursing school in 2003 from Central Wyoming College. She earned her BSN in 2018 from Western Governors University and is currently enrolled in the MSN Nursing Leadership program at WGU. She has served Summit Medical Center since 2017. Prior to serving as CNO, she served SMC as Inpatient Case Manager, Utilization Review RN, Inpatient Manager, and Clinical Informatics RN. She has 22 years of healthcare experience, spanning from emergency patient care to administration. She has been in healthcare leadership for over 15 years. Heather works to develop future leaders in nursing by fostering autonomy, empowerment and accountability in front line nurses. As the nursing leader, she strives to build and strengthen a professional, collaborative, and patient-focused practice environment by providing a trusting and supportive work environment.
