Craig Smith, MD

Board-certified and fellowship-trained in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Craig Smith specializes in primary and revision total joint replacement, periprosthetic fracture care, hip preservation surgery and nonsurgical treatment of injuries and conditions of the hip and knee, including osteoarthritis, fractures, bursitis, and tendonitis.


His surgical expertise includes revision and total hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, lower extremity deformity correction, and complex fracture care. Dr. Smith understands the challenges that come with orthopedic injuries and conditions, which is why he is committed to delivering individualized care for every patient to help them recover and regain their independence.

A Colorado native, Dr. Smith attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for his undergraduate studies in chemistry. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Smith completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency training at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, and later underwent fellowship training in orthopedic trauma at OrthoIndy Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.



Dr. Smith enjoys the personal interaction with patients, the ability to truly impact a wide range of patients’ lives, and the problem solving and planning required to excel in orthopedic trauma, which is why he chose to specialize in the field. When he is not seeing patients, he stays active by fly fishing and skiing. He also relaxes with cooking.


Daniel White, MD

As a fellowship-trained and board-certified sports medicine surgeon, Dr. Daniel White specializes in the care of a wide variety of sports-related injuries and conditions, with special interest in joint replacement, and trauma and fracture care. His nonsurgical treatments include sport-specific athlete assessment and athletic performance optimization, along with injections for the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle.


If surgery is required, Dr. White has extensive experience with the latest procedures, including pediatric and adult ligament reconstruction, shoulder replacements, knee replacements, and anterior total hip replacement, and knee meniscus allograft transplant and cartilage restoration, as well as arthroscopy of the hip, elbow, knee, and shoulder. He is committed to open communication with his patients to develop a shared understanding of the treatment plans and expected outcomes. Dr. White has dedicated his practice to helping people regain their health and independence so that they can continue to enjoy life.

Dr. White attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon, for his undergraduate studies. He earned his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his transitional internship and orthopedic surgery residency training at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. Dr. White also underwent intensive specialty training in the form of the John A. Feagin Jr. Sports Medicine Fellowship at Keller Army Community Hospital in West Point, New York.



Originally from a small Colorado farm town, where the local doctor was a WWII veteran who inspired him to become a military surgeon, Dr. White retired from the military in 2015 to restore the active lifestyles of central Wyoming residents. He is an avid outdoorsman and stays active in his free time with cross-country and downhill skiing, fishing, hiking, hunting, and mountain biking.

Eric Linford, MD

Dr. Eric Linford is a fellowship-trained foot and ankle specialist with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and conditions affecting the lower extremity. Dr. Linford has a unique comprehensive lower extremity joint replacement practice including hip, knee and ankle arthroplasty. He also sees patients for sports medicine injuries, and trauma and fracture care. With extensive training and experience, Dr. Linford is committed to helping every one of his patients return to their everyday lives and activities.

After graduating from Utah State University in Logan, Utah, with his undergraduate degree, Dr. Linford attended the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine in Denver, Colorado. He went on to complete his residency training in orthopedic surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Linford later chose to undergo additional specialty training by completing a foot and ankle fellowship at North Sydney Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Centre in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Since arriving in Casper he has focused his practice on lower extremity reconstruction with an emphasis on joint replacement with an interest in Robotic Assisted Total Knee Replacement. He is certified in ROSA total knee replacement, Oxford partial knee replacements, Wright Prophecy Ankle Replacement and Lapiplasty bunion corrections.

Dr. Linford performs complex surgical reconstruction and fracture care of the forefoot, midfoot and hindfoot including arthroscopy, deformity correction, arthritis care, and joint replacement of the foot and ankle. Dr. Linford has also been certified as a Treace Lapiplasty Center of Distinction for his work in bunion correction surgery. Adding to his expertise in bunion correction surgery, Dr. Linford is a Center of Excellence for the dynaBunion 4D procedure.

In his free time, Dr. Linford spends time with his family and dogs. He also stays active with fishing, hunting, and skiing.

Jay Arthur, MD

Fellowship-trained in adult joint reconstruction, Dr. Jay Arthur specializes in joint replacement and revision as well as the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of injuries and conditions of the hip and knee, including osteoarthritis, fractures, bursitis, and tendonitis. He uses state-of-the-art techniques, including minimally invasive approaches, and innovative technologies, such as robotic-assisted surgery, to help his patients achieve their best outcomes.


His surgical expertise includes primary and revision and total hip and knee replacement as well as partial knee replacement. Dr. Arthur understands the challenges that come with orthopedic injuries and conditions, which is why he is committed to delivering individualized care every patient can depend on to improve their function.


Dr. Arthur grew up in a small town in northern Arizona. He then went on to attend Occidental College in Los Angeles, California, for his undergraduate studies in kinesiology. He furthered his training at The University of Arizona by pursuing a Biomedical Sciences Graduate Certificate in cell biology and anatomy before earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix. He then went on to complete a general surgery internship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, followed by his orthopedic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. He then completed a fellowship in adult joint reconstruction at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.


Dr. Arthur believes that orthopedics is more than just surgery on the limbs and fixing bones. It is an opportunity to impact his patients’ lives by improving their function and giving them a second chance. 



When Dr. Arthur is not seeing patients, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and outdoor activities, such as hunting, fishing, and camping.

Marko Tomov, MD

Dr. Marko Tomov is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in care for the back, neck, and spine. Using his extensive training and experience, Dr. Tomov is dedicated to helping relieve patients’ pain and restoring their function.

After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering from the University of California, Irvine, Dr. Tomov earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis. He completed his residency training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, before undergoing his spine fellowship training at Norton Leatherman Spine in Louisville, Kentucky.


Dr. Tomov delivers advanced procedures for patients suffering from adult degenerative, deformity, and trauma-related conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. He specializes in the following treatments:

Matthew Gorman, MD

Dr. Matthew Gorman is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement, sports medicine, and trauma and fracture care as well as the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of sports-related injuries and conditions of the elbow, knee, and shoulder. As a fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist, Dr. Gorman is dedicated to helping athletes return to competition.


After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, Dr. Gorman earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. He completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Wright State University and Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, followed by his fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, California.


Outside of his practice, Dr. Gorman enjoys going to the lake with his family and spending time with them. He is also a travel enthusiast and an avid golfer.

Robert Allaire, MD

Dr. Robert Allaire is a fellowship-trained and board-certified upper extremity, joint replacement, and trauma surgeon specializing in surgery and arthroscopy of the elbow, hand, shoulder, and wrist, as well as joint replacement and revision of the shoulder, hip, and knee. He also provides complex fracture care and pain injections.

Dr. Allaire has a passion for healing, and he works with his patients to identify and achieve their goals, whether that is decreasing pain, increasing strength and range of motion, or learning to adapt to a change in life circumstances. Dr. Allaire’s ultimate goal is to serve with love and humility, helping his patients regain the ability to walk or use their hands and arms in their everyday lives.


A California native, Dr. Allaire attended the University of California, Irvine, in Irvine, California, for his undergraduate studies in biomedical physics. In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he also completed his hand and upper extremity fellowship.


In his spare time, Dr. Allaire enjoys home improvement, playing guitar, and woodworking. He stays active with hunting, skiing, swimming, and weightlifting. He also plays water polo and was an NCAA water polo All-American, and he has been a CrossFit Regionals competitor.

Trevor Gessel, MD

As a fellowship-trained sports medicine physiatrist, Dr. Trevor Gessel specializes in providing nonoperative and minimally invasive orthopedic sports medicine care for a variety of musculoskeletal and peripheral neurological disorders. He enjoys working with athletes, weekend warriors, and patients who are trying to improve themselves and feels it is an honor to help them overcome any obstacles they are facing and get back to an active, healthy lifestyle.


After graduating with his Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, Dr. Gessel earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He completed a transitional internship at Wheaton Franciscan – St. Joseph Campus before receiving residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Washington in Seattle. Following his residency, Dr. Gessel stayed at the University of Washington to complete a fellowship in sports medicine.


Dedicated to offering his patients the latest in evidence-based treatment options, Dr. Gessel has undergone additional training in interventional procedures of the spine as well as in using electromyography (EMG) and ultrasound to diagnose a wide range of disorders. He is an expert in concussion management. He is also skilled in performing a variety of procedures including radiofrequency ablations, spinal injections, nerve blocks and hydrodissections, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, peripheral joint injections utilizing many different medications, wired release of structures like the carpal tunnel and trigger fingers, and procedures trying to heal tendons and ligaments including those utilizing the body's natural healing processes.


Dr. Gessel believes the doctor-patient relationship is a partnership where both sides have their own responsibilities. His include providing his patients with a thorough evaluation, expert care, and education on their available treatment options as well as being committed to meeting their individual needs and goals. He shoulders the responsibility to keep current with the medical literature to provide his patients with the best evidence-based recommendations. He also expects his patients to hold him to a high standard, understanding that it is part of their responsibility to follow their treatment plan to the best of their ability and communicate with him if they encounter any barrier so that he can help them overcome it or work with them to find an alternative solution.     



When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Gessel enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies and sports, beekeeping, gardening, and traveling. He also likes to keep active by cycling, cross-country skiing, swimming, ballroom dancing, playing racquetball, and playing soccer.

Christine DiPompeo, MD

Dr. DiPompeo grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. She spent most of her youth playing sports and spending time with her family. Dr. DiPompeo met her husband while she was in medical school at University of Illinois at Chicago. He has always enjoyed the outdoors and spent a lot of time hiking and camping and has enjoyed sharing that passion with Dr. DiPompeo who has developed a love for it as well. Dr. DiPompeo and her husband are excited to share this passion with their two sons, Theodore and Phillip.


After completing college at Northwestern University, Dr. DiPompeo earned a Masters in Health Management at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA then applied to medical school. She earned her medical degree at The University of Illinois at Chicago. Following medical school, Dr. DiPompeo was accepted into the Orthopedic Surgery residency program at Southern Illinois University where she trained for an additional 5 years before graduating. After this, Dr. DiPompeo completed a year-long fellowship to sub-specialize in adult spine surgery. She underwent her fellowship at the Center for Spine and Orthopaedics in Thorton, CO under Dr. Mike Janssen who is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading experts on spinal disc replacement and motion preserving procedures of the spine.


After completing her training, Dr. DiPompeo went into practice as a spine surgeon in Peoria, IL. While in practice there, the opportunity to join the outstanding surgeons at Premier Bone and Joint Centers arose. After a year in the Denver area, Dr. DiPompeo and her husband knew they wanted to raise their children where the outdoor activities they enjoy were more accessible and she could not let the prospect of moving to Laramie and such an esteemed group let her by.


Dr. DiPompeo is incredibly passionate about taking care of her patients. She prides herself on taking time to listen how their daily lives are affected by what they are experiencing. Matching the symptoms with the pathology, Dr. DiPompeo is then able to craft a plan that will improve the patient’s every day life. With experience in both traditional decompression and fusion surgeries as well as minimally invasive fusions, endoscopic decompression and motion preserving disc replacement procedures, Dr DiPompeo has many options to help a patient achieve their goals.

Dr. DiPompeo is also an advocate in flash spinal navigation which allows for visualization of 3-dimensional anatomy intraoperatively and more accurate screw placement in surgeries without the radiation involved with other systems. This allows for faster and safer procedures.



Dr. DiPompeo understands that spinal surgery should not be taken lightly. It is her goal to help patients understand the pathology of their spines and how that leads to the symptoms they are experiencing. She enjoys taking time to inform her patients about their condition, so that together they can develop a treatment plan that allows for the best outcome. She is dedicated to helping patient return to the active lifestyle they want.

Daniel Levene, MD

Dr. Levene joined Premier Bone & Joint Centers in 2002. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, Dr. Levene received his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, Colorado. He then went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of California, Davis, in Davis, California. After his residency, Dr. Levene underwent a fellowship in sports medicine and knee and shoulder surgery of the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado.

Dr. Levene serves as the orthopedist for Laramie High School. Additional sports coverage experience includes team physician duties for UW, head team orthopedist for Ft. Lewis College, and U.S. ski team. When not performing surgery or seeing patients in clinic, Dr. Levene enjoys skiing, mountain biking, fly fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Levene is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

John Horberg, MD

Dr. Horberg is a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Adult Reconstructive Surgery including hip, knee, and shoulder replacement. In fact, he one of two physicians in the state of Wyoming with a fellowship in joint replacement surgery.



The importance of sub-specialization cannot be understated. We live in a time of incredible and rapidly changing medical advancement. While many orthopaedic surgeons perform joint replacements as a small part of their practice, the data is quite clear: patients have better outcomes when they have their joint replacement performed by a fellowship trained sub-specialist. It is Dr. Horberg’s mission to serve the people of Wyoming and provide them with most cutting edge joint replacement available. 

Mark McKenna, MD

Dr. McKenna joined Premier Bone & Joint Centers in 2011. A native of Casper, Wyoming, Dr. McKenna received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry at the Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. Immediately following, he attended graduate school at the University of Wyoming and obtained a medical degree at the University of Washington in Seattle through the WWAMI program. Following that, Dr. McKenna underwent his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. He then completed his education and training with a shoulder and elbow fellowship at the University of Washington.


In addition to his practice commitments, Dr. McKenna serves as Head Team Physician for the University of Wyoming athletics. He also teaches as a Preceptor in a clinical rotation for PA students in orthopedics. 


In his free time, he stays active through camping, fishing, hiking, and golf.

Dr. McKenna is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and National Board of Physicians and Surgeons.



Matthew Fournier, MD

Dr. Fournier obtained his medical degree from the University of Washington as a part of the WWAMI medical education program, where he earned honors acknowledging his dedication to clinical education and community service.


Dr. Fournier then underwent a rigorous orthopedic residency at the world-renowned Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee. The Campbell Clinic was the first orthopedic residency founded in the United States, and is the source of Campbell’s Operative Orthopedics, which is considered a definitive orthopedics textbook worldwide. While in training Dr. Fournier received the Hugh Smith Clinical Research Award as a result of his significant contributions to academic orthopedic surgery. After residency, Dr. Fournier chose to further his education with a one-year fellowship in sports medicine and winter trauma at the Lake Tahoe Orthopedic Institute. Dr. Fournier has authored numerous, peer-reviewed academic articles and has presented his work to regional, national, and international audiences.

Thomas Bienz, MD

Dr. Bienz has been with Premier Bone & Joint Centers since 1999. After receiving his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. He then went on to complete a hand surgery fellowship from the Philadelphia Hand Center at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Bienz is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery.


Dr. Bienz performs WALANT surgery which allows for wide-awake procedures with no IV needed. He also performs wrist arthroscopy and tendon transfer to restore function and Microsurgery for nerve repair. He has special training in small and large joint replacement from knee and shoulders to finger and thumb joints.

Timothy Gueramy, MD

Dr. Gueramy joined the practice in 2017 bringing this Foot and Ankle expertise to Wyoming. Dr. Gueramy received his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. After medical school, he was then a resident in the orthopedic surgery program at Wayne State University. Dr. Gueramy completed his fellowship in Foot and Ankle at Portland Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Portland, Maine.


Dr. Gueramy comes to us from Austin, Texas where he practiced for over 16 years in Foot and Ankle. When not providing only exceptional care to patients, Dr. Gueramy stays active with outdoor activities such as skiing, mountain biking and hiking. He also enjoys relaxing and spending time with his wife and pets.



Dr. Gueramy is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.



Mark Murphy, MD

Dr. Mark G. Murphy founded Thunder Basin Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in 1997 and has been proudly serving the communities of Northeastern and Central Wyoming for over 20 years. He received his medical degree from Brown University School of Medicine where he graduated with honors and was awarded the health professions scholarship from the United States Army. Dr. Murphy did his internship at Letterman Army Hospital and completed his residency training in orthopaedic surgery at Stanford University Medical Center.



Upon finishing his orthopaedic residency in 1994, he fulfilled his military obligation from 1994-1996 at Darnell Army Hospital at Ft. Hood, TX, serving 13 years in the United States Army. He then moved to California where he did a dual fellowship in total joint replacement and sports medicine at the Kerlan Jobe Institute in Los Angeles. Kerlan Jobe Institute proudly serve as team physicians and consultants to a wide variety of Southern California’s professional teams including the Los Angeles Lakers, the LA Dodgers, the LA Kings, the Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Sparks. Dr. Murphy is board certified by the American Board of Orthopeadic Surgeons as well as a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.



Sandra Gebhart, MD

Dr. Sandra Gebhart was born and raised in Douglas, Wyoming. She attended the University of Wyoming, in Laramie, WY, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Microbiology and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Gebhart attended medical school at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, and completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN. Upon finalizing her orthopaedic residency, Dr. Gebhart went on to Complete a Hand and Microsurgery fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Gebhart has trained at several top tier medical institutions throughout the country and was thrilled to return home, to Wyoming, in 2019.



Dr. Gebhart strives for excellence, which is why she holds memberships with several well-known Orthopaedic organizations including the American Association for Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society (RJOS), and Wyoming Medical Society (WMS). Additionally, Dr. Gebhart is the Medical Director at Advanced Surgical Care of Wyoming, located in Gillette, WY, the Regional Director at Upper Extremity and Spine Program at the Memorial Hospital of Converse County, located in Douglas, WY, and a Board Member at the Converse County Hospital Foundation, located in Douglas, WY. Evidently, Dr. Gebhart loves pouring back into her community—which is why she has served as the Team Physician for both Thunder Basin High school and Campbell County High School since 2019.



Brandon Trojan, MD

Dr. Trojan brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his patients’ care. He earned his medical degree from University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and honed his skills through rigorous training.



Dr. Trojan’s commitment to excellence is evident in his educational journey, which includes a Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma State University and an Internship and Residency at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Board-certified in Urology, he upholds the highest standards of patient care and medical proficiency.



Elias Hsu, MD

Elias Hsu, MD, is board certified in urology, female pelvic medicine, and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Hsu’s specialties include female and male urinary incontinence (overactive bladder, stress and urge incontinence, and post-prostatectomy incontinence), female urology (vaginal vault prolapse, interstitial cystitis, and urodynamics), and laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Hsu performed the first robotic-assisted laparoscopic simple prostatectomy for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in Colorado and the first robotic-assisted laparoscopic vesicovaginal fistula repair in Denver.


Dr. Hsu earned his medical doctorate from New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Hsu graduated from Yale University, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biophysics and biochemistry and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. Dr. Hsu then completed his urologic residency at Baylor College of Medicine where he was honored with the Baylor Urology Research Resident of the Year Award and the Baylor Urology Resident of the Year Award.


Dr. Hsu volunteers his time with such organizations as International Volunteers in Urology and Global Health Partners. He trains physicians in urologic treatments and surgical procedures; provides unused surgical supplies to third world nations, and organizes community health programs for underserved communities.

Henry Gottch, MD

Dr. Gottsch brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the field. He obtained his medical education at the esteemed University of Washington. His dedication to furthering his skills is evident through his completion of both his Internship and Residency at the University of Washington as well.

J Paul Jones, MD

Dr. Jones’s is a urologist in Wyoming he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, and subsequently completed his Urology Residency at St. Louis University Hospitals in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Jones’s commitment to advancing medical education is exemplified by his Adjunct Clinical Faculty position in Family Practice and Urology at the University of Wyoming.



Board-certified by the American Board of Urology in 1994, Dr. Jones is recognized for his exceptional dedication to maintaining the highest standards of patient care. He is affiliated with prominent medical organizations including the Wyoming Medical Society, The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, American Urological Association, and The American Urogynecologic Society.

Mrinal Dhar, MD

Dr. Mrinal Dhar is a board-certified urologist who partners with his patients to serve their general urology and men's health needs at Hoag Urology and Urologic Oncology. He practices general urology with a focus on minimally invasive surgery. His clinical interests include endourology, kidney stone disease, overactive bladder (OAB) and men's health (erectile dysfunction, low testosterone, enlarged prostate and vasectomy).


Dr. Dhar is board certified by the American Board of Urology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Calgary and completed his residency at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. He completed his fellowship training in endourology and laparoscopy at St. Vincent's Medical Center and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Dr. Dhar is involved with multiple professional organizations, including the Endourological Society and American Urological Association, and is an avid researcher.

Jeffrey Cloud, MD

Dr. Jeffrey Cloud was born in Arlington, Texas and graduated from college at U.T. Austin. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern and a fellowship in Infectious Disease at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he was a chief fellow. He has a Masters of Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, and Gastroenterology although he currently limits his practice to Gastroenterology.


Dr. Cloud is an established and highly skilled physician, practicing in Casper since 2009. He is committed to providing medical care to underserved communities both in Wyoming and in the developing world. When he is not providing care to his patients he enjoys spending time outdoors and enjoying everything Wyoming has to offer. He is a proud husband and father of 2 incredible boys.


He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). He treats general gastroenterology conditions including GERD, colorectal cancer screening, liver and biliary disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), and motility disorders such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

William Shear, MD

Dr. William S. Shear was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Arlington, Virginia. He completed a year-long exchange in Germany through the US Congress/German Bundestag program and then attended Johns Hopkins University before going to medical school at the University of Arizona. He completed Internal Medicine residency followed by fellowship training in Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the University of Virginia where he met Dr Jeffrey Cloud. As a fellow, Dr Shear engaged in basic science research in addition to his clinical training.


He has received grant support through the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and NIH. He has authored peer-reviewed publications in his field, presented his research at specialty conferences, and is a patent holder. He is co-founder of a medical device company in the endoscopy space. Following fellowship, in 2013, Dr Shear and his wife moved to Wyoming where he worked as a GI Hospitalist at Wyoming Medical Center. In 2016, he resigned his position at Wyoming Medical Center to move closer to his wife Claire's family and start a family of their own. After practicing in Amarillo Texas for the previous 4 years, they are thrilled at the opportunity to be back in Wyoming.


Dr Shear is board certified in Internal medicine and Gastroenterology & Hepatology. His practice encompasses the full spectrum of general gastroenterology and liver disease. He strives to provide excellent, evidence-based care and carefully tracks his adherence to quality metrics. He is proud of his adenoma detection rate of greater than 50% and total adenoma detection marking him as an expert endoscopist.


While in medical school Dr Shear was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, a chronic autoimmune inflammatory condition of the GI tract. This diagnosis has shaped his life and practice but not defined it: "As a GI patient myself with chronic disease, I understand what a lot of my patients are walking through. We each are coming from our own place. I want to help you understand your diagnosis, and proposed treatment plan. In my experience patients who are well informed and partnered in their care do the best. As your GI physician, my simple promise is that I will endeavor to provide the absolute best care that I can. This same promise extends to my medical colleagues who entrust Digestive Care Specialists to their patients' GI care."


Dr Shear is thankful for his faith, his beautiful wife and their precious little boy and girl. He is excited to get back to the mountains of Wyoming and serve the great people here.

Chad Cooper, MD

Dr. Cooper received his medical degree from Cebu Doctors’ University College of Medicine in the Philippines in 2009. He completed his internal medicine residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center from 2012-2015 after doing a one-year general surgery residency. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Kentucky from 2015-2018, where he was also chief fellow. Dr. Cooper subsequently pursued an additional one-year advanced therapeutic endoscopic fellowship training at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, in affiliation with Tufts University.


During his residency and fellowship training, he was involved in multiple published research articles. His other educational achievements include a master’s in health administration at Seton Hall University and a Ph.D. in clinical and translational science at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Cooper is a gastroenterology and advanced endoscopist with specialized expertise in pancreatic and biliary diseases. In addition to general endoscopy procedures, he also performs a full range of advanced endoscopic procedures such as endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), cholangioscopy, pancreatoscopy, ampullectomy, electrohydraulic lithotripsy, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) with or without fine needle aspiration and biopsy (FNA/FNB), celiac plexus block, pancreatic pseudocyst drainage, Barrett’s esophagus treatment with radio frequency ablation (RFA), endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), enteral luminal stents and colonic polypectomy with EMR.

Phillip Krmpotich, MD

Dr. Krmpotich completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. He then received a degree in medicine at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where he was elected into the medical honor society of Alpha Omega Alpha. He was also a member of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Krmpotich completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, in 1994, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Kansas Medical Center.



An active associate member of the American Gastroenterological Association, Dr. Krmpotich has a gastroenterology practice in Casper, where he has been with Gastroenterology Associates since 1996. He’s also the medical director at Sterling Surgical Center in Casper.


Dr. Krmpotich and his family enjoy living in Casper surrounded by the beauty of nature that his home state offers. 

Raoul Joubran, MD

After graduating from UCLA with a double major in biology and psychology, Dr. Joubran attended medical school at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. From there, he trained in internal medicine in Indiana and gastroenterology in Louisville, Kentucky, with advanced training in interventional pancreatic and biliary diseases. Dr. Joubran has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and has given lectures at the local, regional and national levels. He’s achieved quadruple-board certifications in internal medicine, gastroenterology and geriatrics and is the only nutrition board-certified physician in Wyoming.



Dr. Joubran has been in Wyoming since 2001 and has clinics across the state. He’s on the board of multiple surgical centers and is a staff member at multiple hospitals across Wyoming. He has strong interest in negotiating with insurance companies for a more efficient, cost-effective healthcare system. Dr. Joubran is proud to be a citizen of a state where “a handshake remains stronger than any written contract.”


Dr. Joubran enjoys spending time with his three young children and exploring the outdoors. He speaks four languages and has visited all seven continents but feels at home in the Equality State.
