Summit Medical Center has recently been accepted as an in-network provider for Blue Cross, allowing a broader patient population to take full advantage of the hospital’s specialty and primary care services. Since opening in April 2015, and while managing negotiations with select insurance carriers, Summit Medical Center has worked to be a viable out-of-network option, accommodating patients with customized pricing and payment plans.
“It’s always a challenge in the beginning, before reaching the in-network agreements,” Dennis Jack, CEO at Summit Medical Center. “Patients are hesitant to go outside their network because of cost, but we wanted to show them our abilities from the get-go, so we made it a point to work with everyone, providing individual quotes and discounts as needed.”
As an in-network provider, Summit Medical Center is better able to help patients understand their full, upfront costs before the time of treatment. At the same time, the hospital anticipates additional referral sources and higher patient volume, as the hospital will be discoverable when patients or other providers search for regional network physicians or facilities.
Jack is excited about the new opportunities that accompany recognition as an in-network provider, believing it empowers the hospital to better fulfill its mission. “We’re here to serve the entire community, and being a recognized, in-network provider for these major insurance companies means we can do an even better job of meeting individual needs.”
Summit Medical Center is a physician-owned specialty hospital offering primary care, diagnostic and surgical services in multiple specialties, including orthopaedics, pediatrics, gastroenterology, gynecology and more. The hospital features four operating rooms, two procedural rooms and 16 inpatient rooms, and also provides on-site lab and pharmacy services.
