Summit Medical Center is proud to announce that Lee Wise, the hospital’s medical records manager, has been selected for publication in the national Journal of AHIMA, the official publication from the American Health Information Management Association. In conjunction with her published work, Wise has also been invited to present at the annual AHIMA Convention and Exhibit, hosted in New Orleans this September.

The published article is titled “The Expanding Role of Care Coordination in HIM” and features contributions from several directors, managers and consultants of health information management (HIM). During the 2015 AHIMA Convention and Exhibit, Wise will present with two of her associates and expound on the article topic of HIM in care coordination.
Wise joined Summit Medical Center in October 2014 following prior experience as an HIM supervisor, health information exchange coordinator and health information compliance manager. She is a certified healthcare compliance officer (CHCO), a registered health information administrator (RHIA) and holds a Master of Science degree in health information management and IT leadership.
“This topic is important to highlight not only for Summit Medical Center but all healthcare facilities, as HIM professionals are an untapped resource,” said Wise. “When Health Information is part of continuity of care, current, complete and accurate information is available in a timely manner. HIM is the gatekeeper of the patient’s health information in all formats.”
